Transgourmet Seafood is a member of the European Eel Initiative. The small and medium-sized companies in the eel industry - eel smokehouses, eel traders, eel farms, fishing associations, angling clubs and private individuals - united in the Eel Initiative are the backbone of the measures implemented by anglers and fishermen. Together they stand up for the eel and carry out stocking campaigns throughout Germany, work to avoid dangers and dedicate themselves to eel research.

Due to the obstruction of migration routes, predators, parasite infestation and excessive and illegal fishing, the existence of the European eel (Anguilla anguilla) is threatened in many inland waters - if humans do not help. That is why this association is so important, just as it is important to educate people about the complex topic of eel, as this website does.
