About us

Our history

Our core competence and passion: fish

The beginnings of something big

Our new logistics and training center for fresh fish and seafood is located in the heart of Bremerhaven's fishing port, which was founded in 1896. Our activities relating to the delicacies from the sea are bundled here: Worldwide purchasing, fast order picking and direct onward transportation to our branches. There is also a comprehensive training program.

Since its launch in 2008 in the traditional fishing port, Transgourmet Seafood has developed into a great success story. With the relocation of the REWE Frische-Zentrum from Cuxhaven to Bremerhaven, the handling of fresh fish has increased exorbitantly. The change of name to Transgourmet Seafood GmbH created an independent company with its own sales and purchasing departments.

Transgourmet Seafood today

Transgourmet Seafood, based in BREMERHAVEN, is today one of Germany's leading fish and seafood wholesalers. The Bremerhaven location offers all the necessary prerequisites. Trade, production and refrigeration manufacturers as well as a network of renowned research and development facilities, particularly in product development, food analysis, fisheries research and quality assurance, make the largest city on the German North Sea coast the most important European location for the processing, development and distribution of fish, frozen products and other foodstuffs. FISH & SEAFOOD are still in vogue today and are more than ever an important part of a balanced diet and an expression of a good and healthy lifestyle. For Transgourmet Seafood, fresh fish, innovative seafood products, sustainable fishing and in-depth training of customers and employees are at the heart of our strategy. We currently have more than 2,300 fish and seafood products in our range and are regarded as an absolute full-range supplier when it comes to fish.

We have to keep facing up to the challenges of the future. First and foremost, this includes SUSTAINABLE FISHING, logistical expertise, professional global purchasing and special know-how in dealing with ultra-fresh and sensitive fish.
For me personally, sustainable action is a continuous process that needs to be implemented better and better in many small steps.
An important aspect of sustainable action is practicing transparency and sharing experiences with all market participants.

For a smooth process

Our digital processing procedure

Our IT team is responsible for monitoring and processing orders for the Transgourmet operations. Once all orders have been received in the system, the order slips are created for picking for the warehouse. These are then post-processed by the IT department in order to write the invoices for various customers. Shortages or blockages are forwarded by the IT department to the TGD operations and the TGC by e-mail in order to inform the end customers. If there are subsequent complaints (shortages, breakages, quality, etc.), these are processed accordingly and credit notes or rejections are sent to the TGD companies. Administrative tasks (various evaluations, data backup, etc.) must also be carried out by the IT department.

Our quality management/assurance

We always guarantee you the best quality with full conviction

Quality according to the latest standards

Odorless and drip-proof packaging is standard for us:

Transgourmet Seafood works strictly according to HACCP guidelines. A seamless quality assurance system guarantees top quality from production and supplier auditing right through to the customer. All products are subject to the strict test criteria of the company's own quality assurance. In addition to the company's own quality control, the fresh fish is randomly inspected and checked externally on a weekly basis by a publicly appointed and sworn expert for quality control on site.

"We don't want to stay good, we want to keep getting better."
Janine Niedermeyer (Quality Assurance employee at Transgourmet Seafood)

State-of-the-art packaging methods, drip-free and odorless (drip-free polystyrene boxes, MAP trays for grilled fish, vacuum-packed bags and trays for mussels) guarantee maximum freshness, enable problem-free storage together with other products in the cold store and offer sufficient protection against contamination during transport and storage.
"Trading in the sensitive natural product fish requires continuous quality checks before the goods reach the customer. The regular critical examination of all processes in the IFS helps us to constantly improve."

Our camp team

So that you always receive your goods as quickly as possible

A strong team

The global logistics flows for fresh fish and seafood come together in Transgourmet Seafood's fresh food warehouse. The fresh goods delivered early in the morning have to be picked and loaded by midday. The time windows for the employees are extremely tight and each individual knows what needs to be done. Full commitment is required here and one cog meshes with the other. No mistakes are allowed to happen in cooperation with the scheduling, purchasing and ordering departments. Picking and loading require maximum concentration, care and control. Some days there is even magic!

Quality according to the latest standards

In our IFS-certified repackaging center in Bremerhaven, we live the tradition of the fish trade every day. Numerous processing steps take place here - from repacking the goods from original boxes to small containers or from wet goods to dry goods to the re-freezing of products. Our fish experts carry out precise and meticulous work, in particular the post-processing of the raw products, such as trimming, cutting, sorting and portioning. For us, quality and freshness are a matter for experts and know no compromise. That's why only masters of their trade work with the sensitive product 'fish' in the company's own repackaging center. Our competent and trained employees in the repackaging center master every challenge. We pay particular attention to our processing of sea bream and sea bass, which we purchase originally in Greece and then process professionally in the repackaging center. From gutting to scaled fillets, we are happy to fulfill every individual customer request. This includes customized processing and packaging.

We regularly offer you a selection of proven classics and rare exotics for your buffet in tested quality. Every shovelnose fish undergoes strict quality control in our repackaging center before it is packed for transport.
